While the preseason is a little harder to handicap, it does have it’s moments where making a pick is easy as eating a slice of delicious pie.
Check out our NFL picks and predictions for all of this weekend's NFL action. Find out where we are laying our money in each of the weekend's three games.
There are only a few NFL preseason games this weekend, but I have a pick for all three of them, and I see some value in the NFL Odds. Let's go over each of these games and try to uncover where us football bettors have the best shot at cashing in.
The Panthers host one of the AFC’s best, and Carolina comes in as -3 favorites. With all the nicks and injuries the Texans are going through, they might side with caution in this first preseason game. The Texans’ season was killed last year when three of their best four players went down with injury, and as we’ve seen from some teams this preseason, they might be better off just sitting their starters the entire game.
With that being said, the Panthers will need to get some rhythm, and they might play to win this game. On paper, the Texans are great, but after their first unit, there isn’t much. The Panthers are the play.
My Pick: Panthers -3
This is the battle of the QB battles, as both of these squads are looking at multiple guys to start Week 1 of the regular season under center. The Seahawks have a trio of guys, and the first two will each see one half of action. The Titans in the other hand are going through the battle between the talented young guy, and the seasoned veteran.
I really like Seattle in this game, not only because I think they are a better team, but it has already been announced that Matt Flynn will play the first half, and Tavaris Jackson will play the second. This is big because I doubt either Jake Locker or Matt Hasselbeck see that much time. The Titans are hurt right now, and even though they’ll let these guys see some time, I doubt it’s a lot. Lay the points
My Pick: Seahawks -3
Even though there is a Monday night preseason game, I consider this the weekend finale. Boy, what a game it should be! The worst team in the NFL last season faces off against the second worst team from last season in a preseason game. Don’t give me any grief if I chose to watch Breaking Bad or something else for my Sunday evening.
The NFL Odds are all over the place for this game, as some sportsbooks have it as a pick em, while others favor the Colts by as much as -2. You can find a number anywhere in between that as well. I don’t mean to sound clueless, but that’s about how much this game means and matters. Although I do like the home team Colts, considering Sam Bradford is injury prone, I would trend with caution when betting this game. If you can bet it live, I would consider that to be a better option than betting it pregame. However, the Colts are looking to turn over a new leaf, and a win for a rookie number one pick would be a good start. With my NFL picks for this game I am going to lay the points once again.
My Pick: Colts -1
