You might want to laugh when I say the Oakland Raiders are gaining a bit of momentum – and I would understand why – but seriously, they have been playing well over the last few weeks. On one hand, wins over Jacksonville and Kansas City aren’t going to start making members of the Black Hole think about a Super Bowl but on the other, this team has won two straight and pushed the undefeated Atlanta Falcons to their limits in Week 6.
I’m having a tough time passing up the NFL betting value on the Arizona Cardinals in this spot – even though I think they’re a team to avoid these days. To be honest, this is a play solely predicated on what I saw last week from the Green Bay Packers.

The NFL value plays continued to cash as for a second week in a row we swept the board with the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers all covering. Let’s see what’s in store for Week 9.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Oakland Raiders
You might want to laugh when I say the Oakland Raiders are gaining a bit of momentum – and I would understand why – but seriously, they have been playing well over the last few weeks. On one hand, wins over Jacksonville and Kansas City aren’t going to start making members of the Black Hole think about a Super Bowl but on the other, this team has won two straight and pushed the undefeated Atlanta Falcons to their limits in Week 6.
On Sunday, they get a very manageable opponent in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have been disappointing this season. Yes, they just beat the Minnesota Vikings but they have also lost to the New Orleans Saints, Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys – none of whom are above .500.
This will still be a close, even game but I think the value here lies with the Raiders. They are at home and should be favored by a field goal.

Carolina Panthers vs. Washington Redskins
The Carolina Panthers keep coming close but unfortunately, they are still just a one-win team. Even so, I wouldn’t be surprised if they got their second win of the season in Washington on Sunday.

The Redskins get plenty of acclaim for Robert Griffin III’s performances but I’m not overly impressed with this team. They have just three wins on the year coming against Minnesota, Tampa Bay and New Orleans.
The problem for Washington is that their defense keeps all of their opponents in the game. Only two other teams give up more yards per game than them and opponents are averaging just about 27 points per game against them in October.
Even if Carolina can’t get the win, they haven’t lost by more than five points in any of their last four games and have only lost by more than six once this season. That being the case, taking the points with them seems shrewd in this spot.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Green Bay Packers
I’m having a tough time passing up the NFL betting value on the Arizona Cardinals in this spot – even though I think they’re a team to avoid these days. To be honest, this is a play solely predicated on what I saw last week from the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers barely edged the hapless Jacksonville Jaguars at home. I think Arizona and Jacksonville are about similar teams: solid defenses and questionable quarterbacks/offenses. That being said, I see the Cards being a slight step up on the Jags, so I think they can cover in this spot.
It is a short week for them and the Packers are playing better of late, but even so, Green Bay has won by more than 10 just twice this year. I’ll take the points with the Cards.
