Whitecaps vs. Earthquakes soccer pick

There’s no day of rest this Sunday when the Struggling Vancouver Whitecaps host the “looking good “San Jose Earthquakes at the BC Place Stadium — Vancouver, British Columbia.

There is some hope for ‘Caps fans as when these sides meet the Gods of Football tend to favour the home side over the visitors. There has been two home victories and two draws in previous matches between these sides. We’ve seen a 2-1 to Whitecaps, after a 3-1 to Quakes, given the choice of (just) those two scores I’d put my wedding ring on 3-1 to the Quakes on the soccer odds board.
San Jose EarthquakesBut don’t tell her indoors
Don’t back a big score for the ‘Caps though, as Vancouver have failed to find the back of the net in three of their last six games, have just one win in six and are on a winless streak of four after their midweek meeting with LA. Vancouver must have done something to anger at least one of the Gods of football as they are now four games winless against the Galaxy. Before Thursday night, La had scored ten goals past Vancouver in three games without conceding a single goal. Thursday looked to be a voodoo breaking game as Vancouver were 2-0 to the good with just ten minutes left to play.
It only takes a second to score a goal
Six minutes was all that was needed for LA as a goal from that David Beckham (can you hear me Team GB?) on 81 minutes and a leveller on 87minutes from Jose Villareal. Kept up Vancouver’s victoryless run against LA, still it must have been nice to score against them at last.
Goals win games
The Quakes by comparison took Dallas to school in a 2-1 stylee, and SJ are now looking to make it three wins on the bounce. It a fair bet to back the Quakes as the worst thing about their last game was that they conceded their first goal in three. Looking at the scores on the doors will show you that San Jose are seven scored for and one conceded in their last three.
Keep an eye on Quakes’ marksman Chris Wondolowski who notched up his third career hat trick as the San Jose routed Real Salt Lake 5-0 in a battle Royale between the top two teams in the Western Conference last Saturday night at Buck Shaw Stadium. Such an emphatic win solidified the Earthquakes’ spot atop the Western Conference, as they are now seven points ahead of Real Salt Lake.
Momentum is reason enough to back the Quakes
San Jose Earthquakes Coach; Frank Yallop was full of praise for his boys after their recent win, “I felt it was a strong performance from the guys. It felt good coming into the game. There was just a sense of confidence in the team and in the locker room before the game and it carried out to the pitch. There was no doubt in my mind that we were going to win the game.” Success is wont to begat success. Also he couldn’t help but praise Chris Wondolowski and his goals, “He has played really well up top all season. He’s been in really good form and you saw that again against Real Salt Lake. He missed an opportunity in the first half, but was able to stay focused and buried two goals.” That brace marked his 17th and 18th of the season.
Goals galore
Not (just) because of Chris’ goals I’m backing this game to go over, as also the last four meetings before these sides have seen more than two goals. As from picking the winner? The Quakes look the happier on the pitch and despite breaking their LA cherry in some style Vancouver just aren’t quite clicking. I’m backing this game to conform to form.
Soccer Betting Prediction: Quakes win in an “over” match.
