The Philadelphia Flyers have had injury issues on the blue line throughout this season.
Chris Pronger’s concussion was a dramatic loss to the team and now the club will be without Kimmo Timonen and Andrej Meszaros indefinitely as they’re both dealing with lower-body ailments.
That means the recent additions of Pavel Kubina and Nick Grossman are going to be even more important.
"We hope (Meszaros and Timonen) can come back soon in the lineup, but guys who was playing tonight, Andreas (Lilja) and Gustafsson, they played unbelievable," goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov told reporters after a 1-0 shutout win against Washington on Sunday. "It's the whole team, like I said, unbelievable team effort. I love to get the two points because it was a very important game."
Philadelphia’s defense will get a serious test Tuesday against a Red Wings club that has lost four of their last six overall. After this game, Detroit is off until Friday, so expect a good showing.

Chicago Blackhawks at St. Louis Blues (-145, 5)
Even though the St. Louis Blues have won 20 of their last 28 games overall, coach Ken Hitchcock is never satisfied. The Blues picked up 10 points out of a possible 12 on their six-game road trip that they finished off with a 3-1 win at San Jose.
T.J. Oshie picked up a goal and an assist and now leads the team with 46 points, but Hitchcock is still concerned with his team’s secondary scoring.
"What's happening is our top-minute players are getting a lot of attention on the road, so it falls on other people to be factors in the game," Hitchcock said. "What we need is our second-wave players to get the other team's attention more if we want to get to the next level. I think moving forward, that's going to be the biggest difference for us, whether we can beat these good teams."
They’ll get the benefit of last change now that they’re on home ice and this should be a tight battle.
